The last year has been a highly satisfying one for Fielding and his owner Lindsay Mutschler. These two enjoyed a big indoors season last fall with good ribbons in the Amateur-Owner 35 and Under divisions at the Pennsylvania National & Washington International, and culminating with Reserve Champion of that division at the National Horse Show in Kentucky.

January of 2013 set the tone for things to come – with a Division Reserve Championship in the 18-35 A/O at Swan Lake. Fielding then headed to Wellington, Florida for the Winter Equestrian Festival in February. This team was rarely out of the ribbons in all of the classes they entered over the season, culminating in a division Championship in week 12. On this last weekend there was no stopping this pair – after contesting and winning their division, they jumped to 14th place of 42 in the prestigious $50,000 International Hunter Derby Classic round, qualifying them for the final round on Sunday, March 30th. On that day, and competing against professionals and Derby specialists, Fielding proved he likes the grass – jumping to 8th in the Final round, ahead of such Derby superstars as Taken and Brunello. When the scores for both rounds were added, Lindsay and her partner finished 10th overall. Well done!

Lindsay has a few more International Derby contests in mind over the next few months. We hope to be there in person for a few to cheer them on!
